10.5 In Young’s double-slit experiment using monochromatic light of wavelength λ, the intensity of light at a point on the screen where the path difference is λ, is K units. What is the intensity of light at a point where the path difference is λ/3?

Hint: I=I1+I2+2I1I2cosϕ
Step 1: Find phase difference.
Δϕ=2πh×Δx=2πλ×λ=2π
Step 2: Find the resultant intensity
I=I0+I0+2I0I0cosϕ=2I0(1+cosϕ)=4I0cos2ϕ2=4I0=K
Step3: Find the new intensity of light

I=4I0 cos2(2π/32)=4I0cos2(π3)=4I0×14=K4
