Four steps, one window, no second chance at most fields. What to have ready before you start, and what each stage actually asks for.
Registering is four steps: register, upload images, pay, print the confirmation page. The fee is ₹1,700 for General, ₹1,600 for EWS and OBC-NCL, and ₹1,000 for SC, ST, PwD and third gender.
Most of what goes wrong is the uploads — every image has a size band and must be JPG. Get them ready before you open the form.
The four steps #
Register, upload, pay, print — in that order, and the confirmation page is the only proof you applied.
- Register. Create the account with your name, ID number and contact details. Keep the application number and password — everything afterwards needs them.
- Upload scanned images. Photograph, postcard photograph, signature and thumb impression, each within its own file-size band.
- Make payment. Online, by the category fee below. The application is not submitted until payment clears.
- Print the confirmation page. This is your proof of a completed application. Print more than one copy.
The application does not count as submitted until the fee is paid, and the confirmation page is what you produce if anything is disputed later.
What to upload #
Five files, all JPG, each with a size band that is enforced.

These are rejected silently often enough to be worth checking twice. Prepare all five before opening the form — a file that fails at upload will cost the session.

From ₹1,000 to ₹9,500, depending on category.

Accepted ID #
Which ID you may use depends on your nationality — and for Indian nationals it is Aadhaar.

The ID you register with matters later: the correction window will not let you edit your identity, date of birth or gender if you registered with an Aadhaar card.
