NEET 2027
The whole cycle end to end — when it happens, who can sit it, what the paper looks like, and what follows the result.
NEET 2027 is expected on the first Sunday of May 2027, with applications opening in the first week of February. The paper is 180 questions for 720 marks in three hours — 45 Physics, 45 Chemistry, 90 Biology.
Every date below is expected. NTA has not published the 2027 notification; the pattern, eligibility and fee structure are the confirmed parts.
Expected dates #
Applications in February, exam in early May, result in June — the shape every cycle follows.
| Events | Dates 2027 (Expected – NTA notification awaited) |
|---|---|
| Release of Application | 1st week of February 2027 |
| End of the application process | 1st week of March 2027 |
| Correction window opens | 2nd week of March 2027 |
| Availability of Admit card | 4th week of April 2027 |
| NEET 2027 Exam | 1st Sunday of May 2027 (2 May 2027 expected) |
| Availability of Answer key | 2nd week of May 2027 |
| Declaration of Result | 1st week of June 2027 |
| Starting of Counselling | July 2027 |
NEET 2026 is the reminder that this schedule is not a guarantee: its 3 May paper was cancelled and the exam re-held on 21 June, moving every downstream date with it. Plan against the shape, not the specific days.
Exam pattern #
180 compulsory questions, 720 marks, three hours — and Biology is half the paper.
| Subjects | Number of Questions | Marks |
|---|---|---|
| Physics | 45 | 180 |
| Chemistry | 45 | 180 |
| Biology (Botany or zoology) | 90 (45 – 45 each) | 360 |
| Total | 180 questions | 720 marks |
Marking is +4 for a correct answer and −1 for an incorrect one, so a wrong answer costs five marks against leaving it blank. With Biology carrying 360 of the 720 marks, it is also the first tie-breaker if two candidates finish level.
Eligibility #
17 by 31 December, Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English, no upper age limit and no cap on attempts.
The full rules — minimum marks by category, accepted qualifying examinations and nationality — are on the eligibility page. Nothing in them is expected to change for 2027.

| Category | Fee (INR) |

Reservation #
62.5% of seats are reserved across five categories.
| Category | Reservation |
|---|---|
| ST | 7.5% |
| SC | 15% |
| OBC | 27% |
| EWS | 10% |
| PWD | 5% |
Note that the PwD figure here reads 5% against the 3% shown on the eligibility page — a discrepancy between two live NEETprep pages that needs an editorial decision. Both are reproduced as published rather than reconciled here.
After the exam #
Answer key, result, merit list, counselling — in that order.
The provisional answer key is published within about two weeks, with a short challenge window, followed by the final key and the result. The result carries your All India Rank, which is what counselling runs on.
For how that played out most recently, see the NEET 2026 result — 11,21,185 qualified of 19,99,895 who appeared, with the cutoff at 213 for UR and 177 for reserved categories.
